PicoFade and PicoRejuve

Candidates are those who wish to improve the appearance of age spots due to sun damage respond well to Picosecond Laser treatment. Even difficult-to-treat conditions such as melasma and post-acne pigmentation can improve rapidly with PicoFade treatment offered by Procerus Skin Care in Ann Arbor. Problems with skin texture including wrinkles and acne scars are also effectively treated with PicoRejuve. These modalities during the Fractionated Picosecond Laser Treatment can be given during the same session addressing both uneven pigment and the texture and tone of the skin.

The newest advancement in the field of fractional laser skin revitalization is the Fractionated Picosecond Laser Treatment. A picosecond is a trillionth of a second and refers to the time span of the laser pulse. Laser energy delivered in an ultra-short (picosecond range) energy pulse produces an unprecedented effect on the skin, which results in the removal of excessive skin pigmentation as well as stimulation of new collagen production.

The result of these technological advances is that the fractional PicoFade and PicoRejuve laser treatments are fast, gentle and according to our patients produce less discomfort and much milder and shorter duration redness than our current Fractional CO2 or IPL type devices. Patients tell us that redness is typically measured in hours or a day or so (rather than weeks). Results seem to begin to appear relatively quickly – which is quite interesting given how much more gentle the treatments are. A series of treatments may be performed and progressive improvement continues for many months. Safety is excellent (it can be used on all skin types) and fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigment and acne scars may be treated. Non-facial areas such as the chest, décolleté, arms, legs, and hands may also be treated.

The most remarkable advantage of PicoFade and PicoRejuve is the non-thermal effect (no significant lingering heat) on the skin, which results in a truly no-downtime, ultra-gentle treatment. Unlike the Fraxel and other fractional laser treatments, there is no need for anesthesia prior to the PicoRejuve or PicoFade treatment. After treatment, some with sensitive skin may see mild redness for less than one hour and no significant swelling.

The revitalization effects of PicoFade and PicoRejuve treatments are impressive. Age spots are lightened, wrinkles are smoothed and skin texture is improved. Even acne scars are improved after a series of PicoRejuve treatments.

PicoFade is recommended for melasma and post-inflamatory hyperpigmentation. We often receive referrals for treatment for pigmentation post CO2 laser treatment or post radiation therapy. One can expect optimal results in a series of 6-8 treatments.
